Every wedding is special, but never in our 17 years of business have we been so happy to photograph one such as this. Covid has been hard on everyone, but this amazing couple altered course and persevered through one of the biggest obstacles of our lifetime. A 300+ guest list was changed to 18 immediate family members on this private venue in Baldwin County, AL. Wedding planner Blair Gewin did an amazing job with some big changes from the original plans, and the day could not have been more intimate and perfect under the circumstances. These families kept their composure and made it a day of love and celebration that turned out beautifully. We are so thrilled we could be there and capture this day for all those friends and relatives that were not able to attend. Weddings will be a little different in the months to come, but this one is proof that you can still have an amazing event with a little determination. Congrats Margaret and Zach! May God bless your marriage in the years to come.

Janie and her sisters have a Dallas-based travel and lifestyle blog, The Perennial Style. Janie’s younger sister introduced Janie and Kevin and they ended up being a perfect match. The fifteen minutes of sunshine we had that day made my photographer heart sing, but the fog surely did make some cool shots too!
All the wonderful vendors really came together to make their day perfect. They are listed at the bottom of the post!

Let me just start out with the elephant in the room…. This is one gigantic blog post. 151 photos to be exact. In the old days, we would have gone through and deleted 50% of these to get a post down to a more manageable size, but when you have a wedding that was this gorgeous, you just want to put it all out there without making any of them go away.
When Heather contacted us as soon as she got engaged after following our work for years, we knew she was going to have something amazing in her vision. After bouncing around a couple of ideas for that perfect destination wedding location, we were beyond stoked to hear that she and Hunter had settled on Yellowstone Club. If there is one prestigious location that most of the photographers in America are dying to shoot, this would be it. Montana in July sounded like heaven, so we made the necessary plans on our end and started counting down the days for the long wait to get there. In the meantime, Angela at Lukas Trudeau Event Co. took the wedding planning bull by the horns and ran with it. She saw Heather’s vision of taking a beautiful, somewhat rustic, and a quite masculine location on the side of a mountain with one of the best views in the country, and turned it into a bride’s dream of whites and pinks with the most perfect florals and linens.
Everything came together flawlessly. We had a thunderstorm during formals with our fab couple, but we worked around the weather and it was perfect in time for the ceremony. Yellowstone Club was everything we dreamed it would be, from the views to the staff who were attentive to every detail and very accommodating to our needs around the property. It really was a dream come true for this Florida couple who spends so much of their life on the beach. I hope we get the privilege of more Yellowstone Club and Montana weddings in the future. Congrats to Heather and Hunter, and thank you so much for loving us! Also, huge thank you to Angela and all the vendors for giving us such pretty things to photograph and the timely email responses leading up to the wedding!

So glad to be finally showcasing this beautiful wedding. Annie and Taylor, along with their magnificent planner, Blair Gewin, threw a beautiful Southern Wedding in Fairhope, AL this spring and it was absolutely flawless. We hit it off with Annie right away (she is as sweet as southern pecan pie) and cannot wait to see them and watch their family grow for years to come. They’ve already started with their precious dog, Rue seen in the preparation photos. They did a first look at the Grand Hotel, Point Clear, with the ceremony taking place at sunset on Mobile Bay. Huge shout out to the owner, Mary Cane, of the beautiful private property near Bon Secour where the reception took place for hosting such a grand event.

Dee and Matthew are getting married in their hometown of Dallas, but they came to one of their favorite places to visit, Seaside, FL, for their engagement photos. It was a very blustery weather day with lots of wind and waves, but we started in town center and worked our way to the beach. They were such good sports and I think this photo adventure will provide them with lots of happy memories for many years to come. Congrats Dee and Matthew!

When we got the first call for this wedding, we knew it was going to be something special. Claire and Paul were planning a December wedding at my Alma Matter, St. Joseph Chapel at Spring Hill College in Mobile, followed by the reception at the luxurious Marriott Grand Hotel in Point Clear, AL. The always fabulous Cynthia Zipperly of Mobile was the wedding designer and Grace & Serendipity complimented her vision with some beautiful paper products and logos along with the stunning floral work by Dennis Harris of Zimlich the Florist. Add some Betty Weber Cake and this was one stunning ballroom.
We got to know Claire’s dad well before the wedding because he was so involved which is just an awesome thing for a father of the bride to do, and both of these families were just the nicest we could have asked for. As always, we thank them for having us and are so grateful they trusted us to capture such an amazing day.

The only thing more exciting than being hired by a great couple is shooting their wedding at your Alma Mater. As a graduate of Spring Hill College, it’s always like coming home when we get to work there. Anna and Jeb had a beautiful and fun-filled wedding surrounded by family and loved ones, many from Anna’s home state of Ohio. We started at the famous Battle House Hotel in downtown Mobile for her preparation before heading over to St. Joseph’s Chapel at Spring Hill for the ceremony, followed by the reception at Stewart Field. Their families were so warm and such a pleasure to be around, and we can’t thank them enough for having us.

We had the pleasure of being in St Augustine recently to photograph this beautiful couple. A St Augustine Wedding has been one of our goals for a while and we cannot wait to be there again. We heard wonderful things about The White Room going into this wedding, and we could not agree more with the positive reviews. Not only was the venue gorgeous, the staff was professional and extremely nice, and the streets around downtown St. Augustine were perfect for taking wedding photos. We owe a huge thank you to the White Room for making our job easy, and our awesome couple for being so open to our vision and allowing us to capture their day. They gave us plenty of time to get great photos and it really allowed us to create some magic through the camera.
Sometimes you meet a couple and realize that they’re “the ones”. The ones who have a similar sense of humor, the ones who hand you champagne in a styrofoam cup when you meet them the first time at a shoot, the ones who are open to anything you want them to do in front of a camera. Add all that to an amazing Fall day, and it’s just magic in front of a camera. Nathalie and John will have their February wedding in St. Augustine soon, and we are so excited to spend that day with them. They were in our area for a friend’s wedding recently, so we started at Rosemary Beach and finished their session at Watercolor.
We did not take many Christmas family sessions this year due to our travels and some much needed down time, but we were glad to have this guy in front of our lens. Not only is he one cute client, but he’s also a new model with the Beaufort Bonnet Company. It’s Christmas #2 for him, and his new best four legged friend Nala is happy to be part of the family this year.
When you have small children at the beach, sometimes their priorities are not your priorities. They don’t want to sit and smile, they want to play, and laugh, and do what little kids do. This was one of our favorite sessions of the summer. It was spontaneous, it was playful, and we had a great time chasing this little handsome dude around the beach doing what all two year old’s do while his baby sister played with mom and dad. If you have small children, the best thing you can do to prepare for your photo session is show up without expectations. These parents are going to relive these great memories for years to come!
What’s cuter than a baby turning one? How about two cousins turning one just days apart… Ty and Walt are two cute cousins, and their parents didn’t disappoint when it came to props and outfits to they chose for this adorable 1st birthday shoot. We have been photographing this family since their parents were married two years ago, and it’s so much fun to watch them grow. We headed over to Mobile for their shoots and had a great time playing with these handsome boys.
Go ahead, ask me about our hard drive failure. You know why? We can talk about it because we were prepared. After 12 years in the wedding and portrait business, we know there are things you don’t skimp on. One of those things is your backup equipment. Yes, you may find a photographer that’s cheaper than us, and yes, their images may be good enough for the price, but do they have a backup plan for your images? What if their hard drive fails a week after your wedding? It happens all the time. Photographer X downloads wedding images onto a hard drive, doesn’t back them up, and then that hard drive fails. Sometimes it’s before the bride and groom ever see their images. It happened to multiple local brides that we know of in 2014. The good news is that’s it’s preventable.
How do we do it? How do we protect your images?
You see the photo above? Its consists of three components. The two smaller components in the front of the image are hard drives. That metal box behind them is their housing. Normally, those hard drives are both in that metal housing. When we download a wedding, we plug into that housing and it creates two copies of your wedding files automatically. One of those drives is the primary drive and the other is a duplicate. If one of those drives fails, we get a warning light on the main housing unit so that we can swap out the bad drive with a new one where the other drive automatically creates another copy as if nothing ever happened. Recently, this main unit failed us. There was nothing wrong with the hard drives themselves, but the power port in the main unit came loose and the unit would not turn on. The great thing is that we were able to take out both drives with all of our clients photographs, and keep those safe with us while we shipped that main unit off to be repaired. No worries about anything being lost in the mail, no worries about any drives accidentally being formatted during the repair. If that main unit had been lost or damaged beyond repair, all they had to do was send us a new one so we could plug in the hard drives and keep going. Each one of these drives is 2 TB, so that’s 2 TB of storage and 2 TB of backup in each unit. We have to buy two of these units every year. Yes, that’s 8TB of storage capacity every year to keep our files safe.
Is that all? Nope!
After we download your wedding to that big hard drive with dual backups, we also download a copy to a smaller pocket drive. Drives like this Toshiba allow us to create a temporary offsite backup. If someone were to break in and steal that main hard drive we spoke of above or heaven forbid we had a fire, these little pocket drives are our next backup. These are never left in the same location as the main drives. They stay in an offsite safe, or travel in a laptop bag so we can work on your wedding while we travel using these smaller drives.
Nope! So up above, we show you how we have three backups of your wedding files the minute we download the files from our cameras. As soon as your wedding is uploaded to our galleries and posted online, that becomes your 4th backup. Yes, we upload all high-res files into a cloud server where they live indefinitely. Those are the same files you are viewing as your proofs. Even in a worse case scenario where we die in a plane crash while simultaneously our office is burning down with the other main drive in it, your files are located safely in a cloud and available for download at any time.
There can’t be more…..
Well, yes… sort of. Our clients also receive their wedding images on a USB flash drive at high-res sizes. That becomes the final backup. We highly recommend for our clients to download their flash drives and then send them off to family members to download their own copy for safekeeping as well.
You cannot be too safe with the images from a once in a lifetime event. We are happy to protect those memories the best way we know how. Please share if you agree!
30A Photographer: Spring wedding season and summer beach portrait season are both rapidly upon us, so we’re going to start posting some of our favorite 2014 sessions. This family was such a joy to spend time with. They were vacationing at Watercolor, which is always a beautiful place for a beach portrait session. We love to start sessions at the park before we head down for sunset and get all sandy. This seems to be a huge hit with our clients because they get two completely different looks in one session. The S family was game for our ideas and we had a blast.
As with most of our beach sessions, notice the colors in the clothes and how beautiful shades of blues, greens, and teal can look together when a family coordinates their clothing….
We have had the privilege of photographing many weddings over the last 12 years, and all of them have had their own unique qualities. Some of them small, some of them large, some of them laid back, some of them over the top. Some weddings deserve to be featured in all of their glory simply for their beauty and the hard work and planning that went into making them.
That’s why we are creating a new website for our best of the best luxury weddings. Amazing details, great planners, high-end designers, and photography that only we could capture will be coming soon for your viewing pleasure. In the meantime, check out these blog links to get a sample of what’s to come:
and yes, we’ll even throw in a 17 layer wedding cake. Stay tuned!
Anna & Ron were married in the Fall of 2013 at WindMark Beach in Port St. Joe, FL. This was our first time photographing this venue, and we were not disappointed with the beauty it gave us. It was breathtaking from the moment we arrived, along with Anna and that beautiful dress she was wearing. They had a sunset ceremony at the First Methodist Church in Port St Joe with Pastor Geoffrey, so they were more than willing to do a first look earlier in the afternoon for us to get some portraits around the property. Wedding Planner Lynn Marshall did a wonderful job along with High Cotton and provided a classy setting of navy decor’ and chevron patterns along with other classy touches like that chandelier over the cake. The lights strung over the outdoor tables gave the guests an atmosphere that encouraged lots of mingling and fellowship. If you are looking for a waterfront venue that’s only a little over an hour from the 30A/Panama City and Tallahassee areas, WindMark Beach in Port St Joe is a must see location. We owe a big thanks to the vendors involved for giving us such talent to photograph, and as always the Sixpence Productions team for being such great videographers to work with. Can’t wait to see their teaser trailer coming soon.

Fairhope Wedding Photographer: Any time we get to shoot at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear it’s special, but a nice bridal shoot is always our favorite. In case you’re wondering, it’s a Southern thing y’all. Wedding days can get a little hectic, the weather’s not always perfect, and the time of day for portraits isn’t always optimal. When we do bridal portraits weeks before the wedding, we can control all of that a bit more. We start closer to sunset than you would on your wedding day for that late afternoon golden light and take the time to play play play for some really beautiful shots! Christie was just stunning in her beautiful dress and it was so much fun doing a trial run before her wedding day which we will have some sneak peeks of very soon. I hope you enjoy these as much as we did taking them!
When we first heard about Caroline & Will’s engagement party from designer Lorna Huey, we knew that it was going to be nothing short of amazing. It did not disappoint! Although this couple is getting married in Highlands, NC this Fall, they had this memorable event at Sonny Hill Farm in Fairhope, AL back in May. Everything was exquisite and well thought out from the mechanical bull all the way down to the monogrammed pillows and blankets. Guests enjoyed a beautiful afternoon of conversation and games followed by a delicious barbecue dinner before dancing into the night with the Tayo Reed Explosion band.

Fairhope Wedding Photographers:
We are finally giving this blog much needed attention after a super busy summer of beach portraits, and there’s no better place to start than Christie and Roy! They are tying the knot in Fairhope, AL this Fall and we just know their wedding will be nothing less than stunning. We met up with them back in the Spring along with Roy’s son Kyle for their engagement photos and had a grand ol’ time at Chapel Farms and the Grand Hotel in Fairhope.
