When we first heard about Caroline & Will’s engagement party from designer Lorna Huey, we knew that it was going to be nothing short of amazing. It did not disappoint! Although this couple is getting married in Highlands, NC this Fall, they had this memorable event at Sonny Hill Farm in Fairhope, AL back in May. Everything was exquisite and well thought out from the mechanical bull all the way down to the monogrammed pillows and blankets. Guests enjoyed a beautiful afternoon of conversation and games followed by a delicious barbecue dinner before dancing into the night with the Tayo Reed Explosion band.

Fairhope Wedding Photographers:
We are finally giving this blog much needed attention after a super busy summer of beach portraits, and there’s no better place to start than Christie and Roy! They are tying the knot in Fairhope, AL this Fall and we just know their wedding will be nothing less than stunning. We met up with them back in the Spring along with Roy’s son Kyle for their engagement photos and had a grand ol’ time at Chapel Farms and the Grand Hotel in Fairhope.
We have a special treat for you today from one of our recent engagement sessions. Nothing makes us happier than an awesome couple, their dogs, a rope swing, and South Alabama. Sara and Davis will be married this winter, and we feel so blessed to be a part of their wedding. We knew as soon as we started this session that they were going to make it easy on us because they are just so good together… and they did. This is probably one of our favorite sessions to date. Hope you enjoy the photos as much as we do!

Fairhope Wedding Photographers – We had a great afternoon with Brooke and Brandon recently. They are getting married this summer near the beautiful town of Fairhope, AL. They wanted a session around their family property, Chapel Hill Farms, and we were more than excited to oblige after shooting Nikki and Maury’s wedding there back in December. They have a private chapel on the farm you will see in one of the photos that will be used in some of the wedding events. They were naturals in front of the camera and it really shows with this beautiful engagement session. We were able to shoot around the other various farm locations with corn fields and lakes. We finished with a beautiful sunset on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay where we got to meet and photograph Brandon’s sweet Springer Spaniel. We cannot wait to work with this family for another 3 day wedding event soon with some of the area’s top wedding vendors including the Grand Hotel Mariott. We know it’s going to be fantastic!
When we found out that Mandy & Grant wanted to have their engagement session somewhere that’s near and dear to their heart, we were happy to oblige. Fairhope, AL is a magnificent town all year round and especially during the Spring blooming season. We were a little bummed with the weather (no sun), but these two didn’t let that rain on their parade. We had a great time and really dig these two. They will be married this May at the Emerald Grande in Destin, and we can’t wait to see all the hard work they have put into this wedding!
It’s been a while since we posted an E-session, so we thought this would be the perfect opportunity. Shelley and Ryan are getting married at the Sandestin Resort in 2012, and recently made the trip from Baton Rouge for some fun at Watercolor Resort. We spent some time playing around the property on a stormy afternoon before making it down to the beach for a brilliant sunset. The sunsets this time of year are just amazing, especially during stormy weather. We really love these two and are super excited about their wedding next year. Enjoy!
Some of you might recognize Farmer Michael. Not only is he an up and coming farmer, he’s rising on the photography scene as well. He’s been quite a help to us over the past year at weddings while graciously handling some behind-the-scenes dirty work we’ve thrown his way from time to time. We love Michael because he just “gets it”. He’s humble, he loves photography, and he’s always working hard to improve his skills. When he asked if we could do a shoot with him, his wife Laurel, and the whole family at Green Cedars Farm, we couldn’t resist. This is the family farm owned by Laurel’s dad, and it’s a great place to have access to. They have everything from horses and sheep, to cows and chickens. Michael is turning into quite a bee farmer with his new bees as well. We had a great time with them recently and loved seeing the animals as always… Enjoy!
These little piggies are the newest addition to the farm. They’re sort of cute…
Things don’t always go as planned… This is Santa Goat, and he wanted his photo taken too!
The whole Newman family!
Michael loves all of his hot chicks…
We traveled down to Fort Lauderdale recently to shoot an engagement with Jenna & Ben. They are getting married in Atlanta next year, but they have a lot of special memories in Fort Lauderdale where Ben has been living for almost a year. It’s where Ben proposed on one of Jenna’s weekend visits, and they wanted to walk around and take photos at some of the spots that were very special to them. Thank goodness tropical storm Emily gave us a break by staying offshore, but the weather was a little stormy at times. We made the best of it and had a great afternoon before hitting a great sushi spot they took us to for dinner. It was a wonderful weekend!
We had an amazing view from our room and which gave us ample opportunity for some rainy weather shots. This is downtown Fort Lauderdale in a heavy rain shower.
We started out at the Ritz-Carlton on Fort Lauderdale Beach where Ben proposed…
Then we headed across the street to the beach….
We love, love, love, than dress Jenna is wearing!
sunset looked to be stunning with the weather, so we headed to one of the many drawbridges and took advantage!
Jumped out on a busy street and took this shot in about 6 seconds….
Then we finished after dark with a walk down Las Olas Blvd where they love to hang out on weekends…
Cannot wait for their wedding in Hotlanta next summer! Thanks for sharing Fort Lauderdale with us you two!
We had a great time traveling down to Fort Lauderdale last weekend for Jenna & Ben’s Engagement session. It was a great start to their Atlanta wedding next summer. More to come on this, but a little sneak peek for right now 🙂
We had a great time with Holly & Jonathon at Pensacola last week for their E-Session. They are having a destination ceremony in Mexico next year with receptions following in Cape Cod & Pittsburgh. It’s going to be quite a celebration.
Where do we even start with this one? Sara and Jonathan are an amazing couple and it seems like we go way back. Sara first contacted us back in 2008, and we kept in touch while they explored all options for their wedding date. Sara is quite the photographer herself, and she was looking for one that was a little less traditional than most in Mobile. We hit it off from the beginning and knew her wedding was going to be fantastic. Jonathan proposed in New Orleans, so we were more than excited to go to the Big Easy for an engagement session with them last Fall. It was a beautiful afternoon, so we took advantage of the weather and had a great time waling the French Quarter. One thing we love about Mobile (we both grew up there) is how much the downtown area resembles New Orleans. For their wedding this past May, they chose a beautiful location in the heart of Mobile that really has that French Quarter feel. If you didn’t know any better, you would probably think it was New Orleans just looking at the photos. The beautiful brick courtyard was a perfect place for the ceremony with plenty of room to party for the reception. I think we can both say it’s one of our favorite new Mobile venues.
Photographers: All of our blog photos are now prepared with some help from our good friends over at BlogStomp. Chip has created a wonderful set of actions that will cut your blogging time drastically by sharpening and adding logos to your photos in one easy step. We’ve used BlogStomp for about 6 weeks since we redesigned our logo and we love it! Check out their website and see it for yourself!
We’ll start with a few engagement photos from New Orleans
The woman singing on the left is a New Orleans attraction herself and has an amazing soulful voice. It was an experience to hear her…. Nothing to see here officer…. move along. A few wedding details including that beautiful dress… The backdrops are amazing as well. The red wallpaper in the dining room was beautiful…. Since photos were so important to Sara, she and Jonathan saw each other prior to the wedding to give us a lot more time….
The girls were sporting some bright wraps and having a lot of fun…
But the guys had their own ideas for fun portraits….
This still cracks me up looking at it. Apparently the ring was forgotten upstairs until line-up time for the ceremony. Sara looks so mean here, but it was pretty hilarious…
The priests were checking out the guests through the window… Two beautiful ladies right here…
That cake and the food were ridiculously amazing!
Just a wonderful ambiance as the sun was setting….
When you’re honeymooning in NYC, there’s only one way to leave a wedding! This was the first wedding we tested ShootShed on and it was a major success!
Amber & Will finally tied the know so I can share a few of Amber’s Bridals! I better throw in the Engagements too since I never blogged them.
I LOVE the setting of these engagement photos!! Don’t you wish your parents’ yard looked this awesome?
Amber looked amazing for her bridals!! Stunning, actually. We did some nice, classic portraits with her nice pretty up-do and then she let her hair down….literally.
I am so far behind on blogging engagement and family sessions from the last 6 months that I’m holding my head down in shame as I write this. However, I am blogging this recent session with Ashley & Devin because this is the perfect time of year if any of you want one like this. We went to Ft. Pickens recently and had an awesome and creative experience, but time is limited. Once the weather turns warm, the ground is covered with so many ants throughout the fort that you cannot even walk without them crawling all over you. It’s like a bad horror movie! Get in touch with us soon if you want a Ft. Pickens E-session!
Now about Devin and Ashley…. LOVE THEEEEEEM! They are originally from Pensacola and were sweethearts in early high school. They eventually parted ways though (I’m sure it was Devin’s fault because he’s a guy and girls don’t break hearts, right Ashley?) Somehow after college they both found themselves working in Orlando. They reconnected, splashed a little pixie dust on the situation, and here they are planning a Fall wedding 🙂 They were in town from Orlando recently to meet with the uber talented Danielle Atkinson from Lucky Girl Events and we decided it was a great time for a photo shoot.
Devin is quite the force to be reckoned with when it comes to his manliness….
But Ashley knows exactly what it takes to keep him in line!
Love, love, love these next couple….
We went undercover recently, as in deep woods undercover, for an E-Session with Samantha and Matt. It was an afternoon of dirt trails, farm cows, and good times as we worked our way around Jay, FL. It’s times like these that I’m glad we own a big truck! It was truly a new adventure for us, but we had a great time! You’ll see their wedding coming up very soon in October…..
I met Brittany back in my old work days. She was working in Evidence Intake at the Sheriff’s Office when I was in CSI. We were instant friends. We had not seen each other for over 3 years, so imagine how excited I was when Brittany chose us to photograph their wedding! We will be photographing their wedding at MySpayce in downtown Pensacola in the Fall and I know it will be a great day!
Can you say Roowwrrrr? They really wanted urban / brick walls type of session, but I am glad they let us lead them to this little area on the water.
We aim to please, so we made a little pit stop for some brick wall action.
My absolute FAVE!!! Tyson looks pretty dang good here, but look at Brittany! She looks amazing and I think every girl is going to have hair envy from this one.
We did it. We went to “the other side” when we visited the beautiful campus of Auburn University for Sarah and Trey’s E-session. It was so worth it! We are Bama fans, but it didn’t hurt too badly since the campus is so beautiful. We met the happy couple outside of Toomer’s Drugs and we saw their school pride as they walked up. Orange and Blue all the way! They were so easy to photograph. They needed very little direction and they didn’t care that people were around.
We walked to some of their special places around campus and then we made our way back to Toomer’s. It was a little warm that day and Sarah suggested some of Toomer’s famous lemonade. Oh boy, that stuff is good! How weird is it that it snowed less than 2 weeks before this session and everyone around us was in shorts?
We look forward to their December wedding with the super talented ladies at It’s A Shore Thing. I really can’t wait to see all of the details.
Trey actually proposed on this swing…..
Oh how we love Spring!
and we’ll finish with a nice portrait!
We are so excited about Lauren and Colin’s wedding! They are from Mobile (just like Wes and me) and they are getting married in Inlet Beach in May. Lauren and Colin are our kind of people. They are silly and don’t take too much serious! But, the best part is that they hired It’s A Shore Thing to plan their wedding. These ladies are awesome and the wedding is going to be so much fun. Colin is Scottish, so we might even see a kilt or two.
Anyway, we met in Fairhope, Alabama, for their session and walked around downtown and then headed to the pier. Fairhope is such a quaint town full of great walls and porches and blooming flowers.
I told you there were flowers everywhere!
Lauren is so happy all the time! She laughs when we ask for serious!
LOVE this one! And, love the wall reflecting in the window. See the actual wall on the next one down.
Lauren might just kill me for posting this one. She wanted to do it!!
I love how they just look so happy and loved!
Whenever we travel to a destination wedding, we always arrive on Thursday just in case there are any travel woes. This also gives us time on Friday to do an e-session and capture some of the local flavor of the town. We waited until about an hour before sunset and just walked around Duval Street and Truman Annex before heading to Mallory Square where everyone in Key West gathers to watch the sun set. These two were putty in our hands. Their wedding post to follow next……
How about a nice clean portrait to start?
This is actually the trunk of a very large Banyan tree that is native to South Florida.
A little landmark some of you might know 😉
I love anything that spouts water……
Mallory Square is full of street entertainers to occupy the crowd before sunset. This guy liked playing with fire…..
This was the view behind the juggler……
It was a beautiful sunset! There is no place like Key West in the winter……
Meet Lindsey & Chad! This family is like old friends when we have only met them in person a couple of times now. Lindsey and her mom have been dedicated blog stalkers all the way from Baton Rouge, LA, for a while, and when she and Chad started planning their wedding, they gave us a call. They will be getting married in June 09′ with some helpful preparations from the ladies at Bliss Event Group. They were in town about three weeks ago, and we braved the cold for a quick e-session downtown. Their wedding is going to be fantastic this coming summer and we cannot wait as usual for it to arrive.
Chania & Russ are getting married in Pennsylvania on the 4th of July 2009. I know it will be quite the event, and I also know Chania will be absolutely stunning in a wedding dress. We met in downtown Pensacola last week for their e-session on a perfect sunny afternoon. The air was so crisp you could see the particles floating by. We just let them be themselves and they rocked the camera……enjoy!
