When we first met up with Ally & Tyler for their engagement session last summer & found out about their nautical themed wedding, we knew it was going to be nothing short of impressive. Ally even brought that theme to their session with a cute nautical dress. Everything from the table linens to the oar signature board for guests was perfectly done. They had a late afternoon ceremony on the beach followed by the guests throwing bags of miniature beach balls at them upon their departure. Another great meal from Townsend catering and this group was set to party for the night. What a party it was. Thank you to Ally & Tyler for being such another awesome couple!

Destin Bay House Wedding – As much as we love big weddings, it’s often nice to have a quaint, laid back event with wonderful families and lots of pretty details. We were excited to finally photograph a wedding at the Destin Bay House from the moment Jennifer contacted us. It is a beautiful property right in the heart of old Destin on Choctawhatchee Bay, and it’s perfect getting married on the water if you want a green lawn instead of concrete or sand. It’s surrounded by large, mossy, oak trees and lots of pretty placed to photograph. We got our first big cold front of Fall on the morning of this wedding which left us with cold temps and blustery winds, but the house was spacious enough that the guests were all cozy inside.

Venue – Destin Bay House, Destin, Florida
Cake – Sweet For Sirten
Photographer – www.raeleytham.com

Jennifer’s timeline allowed us plenty of time to play with her portraits, so we started in the getting ready room and took these with some beautiful window light. These green bridesmaids dresses were beautiful and a perfect match for the green bouquets! This field was perfect with all of the golden midday sun hitting the foliage. It’s hard to believe this is in the middle of a beach town. Poor Jennifer walked onto that cold, blustery lawn, and you can almost see the chill on her faceThe public park right next to the Destin Bay House is perfect for portraits tooEvery wedding detail was creative and This was our first cake with Sweet for Sirten and it was adorable AND tastyThis is one of Destin’s best features… the sunsets. The dolphins were playing at the end of the pier as it was getting darkWith all the wedding formalities done, they got the party started. Wait for it….Never mind, don’t wait for it… REACHA nice bubbly sendoff “inside” thanks to mother nature, but a great night!

Alys Beach Wedding: Thanks to Julie & Ralph, we finally had the opportunity to shoot a wedding at Alys Beach. Imagine how bummed we were when the forecast was 90% chance of rain on their wedding day. It rained a lot. But, great measures were taken to make sure the guests stayed dry and the skies actually parted a bit and allowed us to get some quick shots outside. Right before wrapping up photos to head to the reception, we were surprised with a rainbow.

Casa Marina – Key West Wedding: Tiffany has been following our work for several years now. We photographed her cousin’s wedding several years ago and she’s been hooked since! The coolest thing is that we can link Tiffany back to the VERY first wedding Wesley and I shot back in October 2002. It’s amazing to know that we booked three weddings because of that first wedding. Word of mouth marketing is truly powerful.

Tiffany and Kevin had quite the party in Key West. We had a great time and we certainly enjoyed our favorite Key West restaurants while we were down there.

Every wedding is an adventure for us, and this Labor Day was no different.  Two weddings and Tropical Storm Lee gave us quite a challenge with the weather. Luckily, our brides took it in stride and we forged ahead with two amazing weddings.  We’re going to give them both a little sneak peek to highlight how even such a stormy wedding day can attribute to a great photography portfolio.

We’ll start with Laura & Matt…. Laura’s dream beach wedding was moved into the Meeting House at Carillon, but we did make it down to the shoreline for some photos and it was dramatically beautiful.  Laura & her bridesmaids decided to be “Lee” fashionable with accessories to brighten the day!

Jennifer and Phillip were married the Sunday before Labor Day, and their Pensacola wedding was just as stormy. Luckily, their wedding was in a church with an inside reception as The Officers Club at Pensacola NAS. We had to work around the weather to get some outside photos, but we did get lucky a couple of times and it turned out great!  Nancy’s Haute’ Affairs did a fantastic job of making the day go as smoothly as possible.

I think we have discovered that we LOVE Louisiana clients. Their weddings are great and their receptions are nothing but a party. This wedding was no different. We met Jeanne and her mom at the bridal session and we knew we were a great fit. Jeanne was so easy to photograph and had so much personality (and attitude!). The wedding day was perfect and relaxed. They ended the night with King Cake and you know we loved that!

Oh! We took Avery to the bridal session because she loves brides and we knew Jeanne would love her too. They hit it off very well and I am pretty sure Jeanne was willing to take her home.

Deanna & Chris came all the way from the city of Nashvegas (Nashville) in October for a destination wedding in Gulf Shores, AL at the massive Halekai House.  Charli from All the Details helped plan and coordinate the day to perfection.  Deanna’s favorite flower from Chris is the rose, so incorporating them into the decor’ was a must.  The design was elegantly tasteful and probably one of our favorites with all of that deep romantic red built in. This was a wonderful celebration of family and close friends that was as much fun for us as the guests. Enjoy some of the day’s fun. Love this dress x 10!Deanna had a vintage Ruby ring that Chris gave her.  It was passed down in the family…Va Voom!Red roses have never looked so great! The colors at sunset were just beautiful..The food was so colorful and red that we thought it deserved it own collage.

Some couples are high maintenance and others are super laid back. Marti & Mark were definitely in the laid back category. It was a weekday destination wedding with their close friends and family and it was a perfect day. Of course, Jennifer of It’s a Shore Thing helped on that part! Marti’s gorgeous silk gown floated along the sand as if she were Cinderella.

Halloween of 2009 will be one of those wedding days we’re not soon to forget. Sidney and William chose Rosemary beach for their October 31, wedding with all of its charm which matches their personalities to a Tee. Everything lined up perfectly for their wedding as usual with the help of the “It’s a Shore Thing” crew. Rae did a bang up job on their Atlanta e-session back in September that we will be blogging with our many other Fall e-sessions soon. For now, enjoy part 1 of their wedding post. Chamaine and Carlos drove all the way from New Orleans to have a beautiful wedding on the beaches of the Emerald Coast. They chose Sandestin Hilton as their venue and it was perfect for them. The ballroom was beautiful and all the vendors did a really great job! Their wedding really focused on family. Chamaine and Carlos have 3 children together, but there were many more children there. I don’t think I have seen so many kids at a wedding before and they all partied like the adults! And, you know how those Louisiana people like to party! They even extended the reception because they weren’t done partying.

Christina and Dan were married recently at the beautiful Carillon Meeting House followed by a lakeside reception on the Lawn. We knew these two and their group of friends were going to have a good time! They did not disappoint us and they got a little more crazy as the night went on. The day was very relaxed despite the sweltering heat and everything was absolutely perfect. Of course, the lineup of amazing vendors made the entire event flawless. Morgan and Stephen were our last June wedding at the end of our very busy wedding season. They brought a couple hundred of their closest friends and family down from Mississippi to the beautiful area of Orange Beach, AL for a grand wedding. The ceremony was held at a private residence with reception at Palms Grill. This was our first time at the Palms. Not only was the room beautiful, the food was some of the best we’ve had and the staff was phenomenal! Morgan was delightfully funny as you’ll see below, and she and Stephen both were great to work with and such a compliment to each other. And let me tell you…those Mississippi folk can PARTY!

The wedding and reception were so amazing thanks to Charli from All the Details in Fairhope, AL. Charli really made the ceremony set-up beautiful and kept the day running smoothly!
Enjoy!

Ashleigh and Galen booked us on what had to be the most popular Saturday of the year. We had three brides wanting to book us for this date within two hours of each other, and Ashleigh managed to seal the deal first! We first met them at their engagement session in Atlanta last Fall, and we knew then that Ashleigh had great taste for their wedding. This was a beautiful intimate event at a private beach house (Palazzo Del Sol) in Destin, with food and florals from the always fantastic Celestine’s. The weather was a little tricky with spotty rain showers off and on, but the back yard tent overlooking the Gulf was a lifesaver for everyone. The large, puffy, purple clouds are always great for photos, especially when blue skies are peaking through.

We are just so blessed to get to photograph beautiful events with great people as clients. We started off at Colette’s family’s beach house for some preparations and Wes went down the block to check in on John’s family. Colette is one of three sisters and the girls were dealing with hair and makeup. John is one of three brothers and the boys were dealing with beer and cigars.

The wedding was really beautiful and the reception was amazing. You know we are suckers for details so we were pretty excited when we saw the reception setup. The vendors were really amazing!

We have been waiting for this wedding for many months.  We knew from the Minute we met Michelle that we were all a perfect fit for each other (thanks Billy). She has a wedding BLOG that I have been following so I knew the wedding would have amazing details.  But, WOW!  The people inlvolved were even more amazing than the details.  The vendors, the families, the wedding party, the party animals guests….all awesome.  Be sure to look at Michelle’s blog and read her story of how she found us and why she decided to hire us.

Anyway, Michelle and Adam were married on the beach on the property of the Bay Point Marriott in Panama City Beach, FL.  The gorgeous reception was set up on the terrace near the main hotel.  This wedding has SOOO many details I just don’t think I can fit them in one post.  And, special thanks to Dede Edwards for helping us get people together and for bossing people around and for 3rd shooting and everything!

Hello gorgeous dress!

041009_01
Michelle’s sister-in-law who is a floral designer in Hawaii designed Michelle’s bouquet for that personal touch. Isn’t it beautiful?  See those green, leafy, folded things?  (sorry I don’t know their name) Michelle’s mom grew those in her yard!

This is such a cute story! Adam gave Michelle a bear in a beautifully wrapped box on their first Christmas together. It took her about 4 hours to notice that the bear was wearing earrings. It has been a family joke since then and Michelle still has the bear AND the box it came in. While getting ready, Michelle was given the same box and she pulled out the same bear. The bear was holding a jewelry pouch and Michelle was a little baffled when it was empty. Funny enough, it took her at almost a minute to realize the bear was once again wearing earrings! They came from Michelle’s favorite jewelry store Pensacola, Susan Campbell Jewelry.   She wore the new ones and the ones she got for that first Christmas!

Oh where do I begin? Hannalore and I hit it off from the 1st conversation. She grew up in Mobile (like Wes and I did) and she graduated from a rival high school the same year as Wes. We were all in the marching band too (yes, we were cool)! We also discovered that one of Hannalore’s good friends was Wes’ good friend in elementary school. It really is a small world. Anyway, we were excited to shoot at two new locations. The ceremony was at Dune Allen Beach off Highway 30A. It is a small strip of beach nestled in between very large beach houses and we pretty much had the beach to ourselves. The reception was at the exclusive Cypress Dunes Clubhouse. I say exclusive because it’s a little tricky to have a wedding there. It was truly amazing. But, wow! Wait until you see Hannalore! Stunning. We were also excited to have the pleasure of working with Celestine’s again. Oh, the band! They were from Mobile and I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Where to even start with this post? First, be sure to see this couple’s e-session Here if you have not already seen it. Brittany and Jarrod have been so gracious to us that I am sad their wedding is finally over! Once, sometimes twice a year we photograph a wedding where every element comes together perfectly for the optimal photographic experience. What all does that entail you ask? Perfect weather, great planners, great venue (location, location, location), and a couple who just knows how to rock the camera. This past weekend was one of those weddings. Brittany and Jarrod have always thought of their wedding day on the beach, sand between their toes, and surrounded by loved ones. Well, they almost got that….. They rented a beautiful beach house on Pensacola Beach and had everything planned except for hurricane Ike. Even though he went ashore in Texas on Friday night, the wind was just too high on the beach for an outside wedding here. Luckily, a close friend came to the rescue and offered her parents waterfront home just over the bridge in Gulf Breeze that turned out to be a phenomenal location. On top of everything I just mentioned, they decided to see each other before the wedding to ensure plenty of time for photos. These two know how to do it. Let me also say what an amazing job the ladies at Bliss Event Group did. If you are planning a wedding in the area, I promise you that their details are worth their weight in gold!

We started out with the ladies at that beautiful beach house they rented…Brittany’s mom gave her a beautiful card right before we got there.

Pink was the choice of toenail polish…..

That first meeting… LOVE IT

Any doubt Brittany loves her parents?

Beautiful florals by Kebbie Hollingsworth!

Brittany lost it when she saw the decor’……. Am I sensing a trend? 😉

Even the food coordinated with the decor’. That is fresh Grouper, Moroccan carrots, Asian string beans, and Jack Daniels skirt steak…..YUM

Brittany loves chocolate cupcakes and Jarrod loves cinnamon rolls…..I love the personalized touches!

We couldn’t resist that stormy night sky that was blowing under a full moon!
