Janie and her sisters have a Dallas-based travel and lifestyle blog, The Perennial Style. Janie’s younger sister introduced Janie and Kevin and they ended up being a perfect match. The fifteen minutes of sunshine we had that day made my photographer heart sing, but the fog surely did make some cool shots too!
All the wonderful vendors really came together to make their day perfect. They are listed at the bottom of the post!

We had the pleasure of being in St Augustine recently to photograph this beautiful couple. A St Augustine Wedding has been one of our goals for a while and we cannot wait to be there again. We heard wonderful things about The White Room going into this wedding, and we could not agree more with the positive reviews. Not only was the venue gorgeous, the staff was professional and extremely nice, and the streets around downtown St. Augustine were perfect for taking wedding photos. We owe a huge thank you to the White Room for making our job easy, and our awesome couple for being so open to our vision and allowing us to capture their day. They gave us plenty of time to get great photos and it really allowed us to create some magic through the camera.
Sometimes you meet a couple and realize that they’re “the ones”. The ones who have a similar sense of humor, the ones who hand you champagne in a styrofoam cup when you meet them the first time at a shoot, the ones who are open to anything you want them to do in front of a camera. Add all that to an amazing Fall day, and it’s just magic in front of a camera. Nathalie and John will have their February wedding in St. Augustine soon, and we are so excited to spend that day with them. They were in our area for a friend’s wedding recently, so we started at Rosemary Beach and finished their session at Watercolor.
Anna & Ron were married in the Fall of 2013 at WindMark Beach in Port St. Joe, FL. This was our first time photographing this venue, and we were not disappointed with the beauty it gave us. It was breathtaking from the moment we arrived, along with Anna and that beautiful dress she was wearing. They had a sunset ceremony at the First Methodist Church in Port St Joe with Pastor Geoffrey, so they were more than willing to do a first look earlier in the afternoon for us to get some portraits around the property. Wedding Planner Lynn Marshall did a wonderful job along with High Cotton and provided a classy setting of navy decor’ and chevron patterns along with other classy touches like that chandelier over the cake. The lights strung over the outdoor tables gave the guests an atmosphere that encouraged lots of mingling and fellowship. If you are looking for a waterfront venue that’s only a little over an hour from the 30A/Panama City and Tallahassee areas, WindMark Beach in Port St Joe is a must see location. We owe a big thanks to the vendors involved for giving us such talent to photograph, and as always the Sixpence Productions team for being such great videographers to work with. Can’t wait to see their teaser trailer coming soon.

Carillon 30A Wedding Photographer – While we cannot blog every wedding we photograph due to time constraints, I usually know within the first 5 minutes of starting someone’s wedding photography whether or not it will make it to the blog. It has a lot to do with the flow, the bride being ready on time, the location, the couple’s background, etc. I must say that this was probably one of the hardest weddings to blog in the history of our business. Narrowing down the photos that I wanted to use was nearly impossible. This was such a special day that I could have blogged nearly every photograph from this wedding and hope to never have to make a decision this hard again.
I met Angie and her mom when they were driving through Pensacola on their way to Carillon. We hit it off immediately and I knew she was our kind of client when she had several of our blog photos printed and added into her enormous wedding binder. Her favorite images were definitely some of our favorites. While we chatted, Angie told me about the proposal, her wedding ideas, and her fiance’s 7 year-old daughter. She had photos of all these things in that binder too.
Angie really beamed when she talked about Larry’s daughter. She had no reservations about becoming a step-mom to that sweet girl. Angie spoke so kindly and sweetly about this little girl who had lost her mom at a young age. You can imagine the tears when Larry’s daughter exclaimed “I want to dance with my mommy” and jumped into Angie’s arms. It was a day we’ll never forget. So many emotions, so many tears, and a bride who was just as amazing on the inside as she is on the outside. Please scroll down to enjoy Angie & Larry’s big day!

One of our favorite things to capture is that first look when dad walks in the room for the first time after the dress is on. We are so glad we were there for this one. Angie’s dad was just delighted…She was absolutely stunning too..But we couldn’t let everyone see her just yet…She had to make a grand entrance!Larry knew how to work the camera too…Another amazing moment right before that big walk down the aisle….Tears all around….Followed by lots of joy…And some yawns….After the ring exchange, Angie gave her new daughter a special necklace …. that didn’t keep her from screaming “yuck” when they kissed though! The day came to an end with a beautiful sunset on the lake and another gorgeous Townsend Catering spread…Angie loves her bling bling and that cake was a perfect example of how much… it was fantastic and sparkley! The first dance was a family affair…And then dad for his turn….Then mom had us all crying again…We had lots of fun with the garter toss… Then Angie kept the dance floor moving by dragging her mom out for a special dance as well… And then another special dance between a daughter and her new mom…Finally, Angie is a big fan of the Carillon fountain, so we had some fun with it before they were whisked away in that beautiful Classic Packard Automobile.
Destin Bay House Wedding – As much as we love big weddings, it’s often nice to have a quaint, laid back event with wonderful families and lots of pretty details. We were excited to finally photograph a wedding at the Destin Bay House from the moment Jennifer contacted us. It is a beautiful property right in the heart of old Destin on Choctawhatchee Bay, and it’s perfect getting married on the water if you want a green lawn instead of concrete or sand. It’s surrounded by large, mossy, oak trees and lots of pretty placed to photograph. We got our first big cold front of Fall on the morning of this wedding which left us with cold temps and blustery winds, but the house was spacious enough that the guests were all cozy inside.
Venue – Destin Bay House, Destin, Florida
Cake – Sweet For Sirten

Jennifer’s timeline allowed us plenty of time to play with her portraits, so we started in the getting ready room and took these with some beautiful window light. These green bridesmaids dresses were beautiful and a perfect match for the green bouquets! This field was perfect with all of the golden midday sun hitting the foliage. It’s hard to believe this is in the middle of a beach town. Poor Jennifer walked onto that cold, blustery lawn, and you can almost see the chill on her faceThe public park right next to the Destin Bay House is perfect for portraits tooEvery wedding detail was creative and This was our first cake with Sweet for Sirten and it was adorable AND tastyThis is one of Destin’s best features… the sunsets. The dolphins were playing at the end of the pier as it was getting darkWith all the wedding formalities done, they got the party started. Wait for it….Never mind, don’t wait for it… REACHA nice bubbly sendoff “inside” thanks to mother nature, but a great night!
It is with great excitement that we can finally share with you a beautiful bridal portrait session we photographed last week. Jodie and David said their “I do’s” this past Saturday, but we had the opportunity to take her in her beautiful dress to Ft. Pickens a week before the wedding to take some jaw dropping formal photographs.
Sometimes we feel like we don’t have to say very much on a wedding post simply because the photos speak for themselves. This is one of those times. Gina and John were married last Fall at the always beautiful Carillon here on the Gulf Coast. Once again, the vendors involved in this event pulled off an amazing job with breathtaking details. We are so honored to be able to showcase their hard work and hope you enjoy seeing this post as much as we did creating it.

Caroline and Kent were married last Fall at the beautiful Henderson Inn near Destin. We knew from the minute we arrived that it was going to be a great day. Caroline was amazingly sweet and just happy to be in that moment of being a bride. We had a lot of fun watching her and Kent both soak up every bit of the day they could with a range of emotions that make us love what what we do. The weather was a little challenging with a blustery wind and some unexpected rain, but it added for a little excitement which included a stellar sunset and rainbow to finish the day. The Henderson Inn is a great place for weddings with a beautiful location and delicious food served by a top notch staff.
There’s nothing better than precious flower girls that like to be involved in the process…
and close friends who are there for you at the most important times.
Sometimes the unexpected elements make the best shots..
Weddings can be exhausting….
Immediately following the ceremony, Kent led Caroline off to the side and had their own moment that we were ecstatic to capture…
Caroline’s happiness flooded her with tears… I think I welled up a little along with her.
The wind decided to try and steal her beautiful veil, but Kent was on it!
Yes, that rainbow was FANTASTIC
and so was that sunset!
Jessica and David were married at the beautiful Henderson Park Inn in Destin, FL. We photographed our 2nd paid wedding there 8 years ago, and we were so excited about going back for the first time since that day. The staff at Henderson did an outstanding job on the menu and Sherri from RSVP Weddings was a pleasure to work with. David is retired from the Coast Guard and Jessica is an active Coast Guard Pilot who provides life-saving services to all of us who live and boat on the water. I hope we did half as good of a job for them as they do for us every day. It was a perfect Fall day for this venue, and I cannot explain the range of emotions this wedding brought forth. There were plenty of tears and happiness throughout the night. We had never met them before the wedding, but it was instantly obvious how much they love each other and their family. Hopefully these photos will allow you to experience this wedding in the same way we did.

Jessica’s sister was putting the finishing touches on a fantastic toast right after we arrived…
While Jessica was putting her finishing touches on too…
Sherri scheduled us plenty of time for photos after the ceremony, so we got to make good use of that gorgeous sunset…
That toast her sister was working on earlier in the day was VERY good…
Love happy tears!
Jessica’s first dance with her father was just as touching….
Jessica’s brother brought more tears when he put on two separate slideshows he made of them growing up. It really emphasized the importance of family to both of them..
Jessica’s parents got the dance floor moving!
And this crowd knew how to party!
Pensacola Wedding Photographer – Rae Leytham: We love it when we get a call from a past bride’s sister. We photographed Ashley’s sister’s wedding two years ago at the same venues! It was a beautiful, yet warm, day in June at two beautiful venues.
Casa Marina – Key West Wedding: Tiffany has been following our work for several years now. We photographed her cousin’s wedding several years ago and she’s been hooked since! The coolest thing is that we can link Tiffany back to the VERY first wedding Wesley and I shot back in October 2002. It’s amazing to know that we booked three weddings because of that first wedding. Word of mouth marketing is truly powerful.
Tiffany and Kevin had quite the party in Key West. We had a great time and we certainly enjoyed our favorite Key West restaurants while we were down there.

Deborah & Dave are a couple of beach cats from Atlanta, but they spend as much time as they can on our beautiful Florida beaches. They have been together for over ten years and finally decided to tie he knot with their closest friends in their favorite vacation destination! The wedding was so sweet and loving and classy.

I think we have discovered that we LOVE Louisiana clients. Their weddings are great and their receptions are nothing but a party. This wedding was no different. We met Jeanne and her mom at the bridal session and we knew we were a great fit. Jeanne was so easy to photograph and had so much personality (and attitude!). The wedding day was perfect and relaxed. They ended the night with King Cake and you know we loved that!
Oh! We took Avery to the bridal session because she loves brides and we knew Jeanne would love her too. They hit it off very well and I am pretty sure Jeanne was willing to take her home.
I really love the architecture of Rosemary.
What’s better than seersucker? Seersucker with a little red mixed in!!
There’s nothing better than than arriving at a wedding and being visually overjoyed with creativity and color schemes. That was the feeling we had as soon as we arrived at Carillon to Lauren & Trevor’s wedding. Lauren chose a pink & yellow wedding color scheme that was fun, modern, & just perfect for the season. This was definitely a FUN group of people who came for a destination wedding from Memphis and brought their southern hospitality with them. I think the phrase “They liked to dance” would be an understatement!
We gave this post a little extra love and hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed being there!
Lauren’s mom popped out of her room in that rockin’ pink dress and she got a major round of applause!
Totally in love with these colors… especially the shoes!
Their first dance started out with a fake-out slow song and then transitioned into a fast dance to everyone’s surprise. They repeated that with their parents as well who could boogie down with the best.
Another wonderful meal by Townsend Catering. This very berry salad is one of our faves!
We simply adore Watercolor weddings and really enjoy working with our friend Cheryl Walton every time we have a wedding there. She talked so highly of Cindy and Robert, and we knew why the first time we met with them. Although their kids are almost grown, they are a perfect modern day version of the Brady Bunch. They love vacationing on 30a and knew that’s where they wanted to plan their destination wedding from Tennessee. Watercolor was a perfect choice, and Cheryl & staff did an amazing job as usual. The day was completely laid back, stress free, and their guests really seemed to have a great time.

We started our 2011 off with an amazing wedding and an amazing couple. The wedding and reception were at the Cypress Dunes Clubhouse in Santa Rosa Beach. The venue was great, the vendors were fabulous, and the details were amazing. We are THRILLED to share this one with you. Even Kris’ jewelry was lovely. The groom’s mom and her friends are florists and they did such a great job with all the floral details and decor’. The birch bark details were so organic and the handmade cotton guest book fit in so well. Add Classic City Catering and Betty Weber cake to the mix and we were in heaven. The food was delicious….spicy tomato bisque with grilled cheese points, gumbo with dirty rice, oysters on the half shell, baked oysters, and so much more!
One of our favorite Fall weddings was at Carillon Beach with Jaclyn & Jerry. The weather could not have been much for perfect for this grand event in the Meeting House with reception following on the tented lawn. Christina with Nouveau did another amazing job with the bright florals and drapes inside the tent for an elegant almost ballroom feel to the wedding. There were to many guests to fit inside the meeting house, so chairs were added on the outside decks and the french doors were opened to make the ceremony a beautiful indoor/outdoor wedding. I’m just going to let the rest of the photos speak for themselves.
With Rae being 8 months pregnant, we enlisted the help of the fantastic Mary Beth Tyson Photography and the up and coming Michael Newman photography to help us with this wedding. They got some great shots as well that I will be pointing out. Let’s just say that with four photographers, this wedding was covered from head to toe. One of the Great shots Michael took…..Mary Beth found a strategic spot in the front of the Meeting House, and these next two shots are hers…She got one of my favorite shots of the day below….Rae was across from Mary Beth and caught both moms having a good time too..And Wes was in the back… See? It was covered hahaAn amazing Fall sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. Don’t let the warm tone fool ya though. It was COLD for this shot. Another shot Mary Beth got of Jaclyn & her father. Love….This photo speaks to me…I love classic cars, and this 1966? Thunderbird getaway car could not have been more perfect…
There is an old saying that if something is meant to be, it will. Caroline & Lou inquired with us last year for their September 2010 wedding. We knew it was going to be a great wedding with It’s a Shore Thing and Celestine’s involved. However…. another great bride of ours had their same date in mind, and she was the first to return her retainer to us for that date. That was the sad news. The good news is that the military changed some dates for deployment which made Caroline & Lou move their date back to October. They happened to choose the ONLY Saturday we had left in October so it was a sign! We have photographed many military weddings and several where both the bride and groom are military, but this one was the biggest party we have ever seen. I think most of the guests were still on the dance floor even as the last song was playing.
Wedding Planner: It’s a Shore Thing
Catering/Florals/Decoration: Celestine’s Weddings
We began photos at the Emerald Grande at Destin Pass before heading to the beach…..
Caroline was rockin’ the orange wall…She was beautifulBeautiful bouquets by Celestine’s….
Lou is an F-15 pilot, so his friends were more than willing to provide an F-15 flyover just before the wedding. These two had a wonderful charisma about them…It was a colorful reception that was rockin’This one just makes me smile…We even had some serious guitar playing….Lou’s dad provided a great chair service for the garter removal…and then they were whisked away!
Most people book us because of our beautiful photography, Lindsey’s mom contacted us because of my cool name. ha! Her mom had a list of photographers to contact, but she started with us because Lindsey’s name is Lindsey Rae. All the cool people have Rae as their middle name, you know. The fact that they loved our work was just icing on the cake for them! We LOVE this family. Lindsey and her mom are some of the kindest people we have ever met. We started the day at the Sandestin Grand with some pre-ceremony photos and it’s such a lovely place for photos! We ended the night there too and boy was it a night. Those groomsmen were crazy. The favors were chocolate cigars and homemade pickles….mmmm….it was a pregnant lady’s dream! We are excited to show such beautiful images that were made possible because of great vendors.

Love, love, love this dress and shoes. Celestine’s did an amazing job on the florals as always. This bouquet was simply elegant..The sign-in table in the church courtyard was under a tree with these beautiful, dainty flowers strung from above…Just….. WowBeautiful cake by Yasha Becker….The Groom’s cake and chocolate wedding favors were cigar themed which was a great discussion topic…The dance floor was hopping! Wes got this great shot during the toast…The sun set shortly after their ceremony, so we had to make use of some cool lighting techniques for night shots. These ended up being some of our all time favorites…A little bling bling…Some groomsman karaoke…..And then some aggressive bouquet and garter catching ended the night on a great note!
